Cincinnati Sub-Zero supplies Environmental Chambers
to the General Motors Battery Test Lab

Cincinnati Sub-Zero (CSZ) was selected as the main Environmental Test Chamber Supplier for the new General Motors (GM) Battery Test Lab which officially opened in June 2009. The facility tests battery packs, energy cells and modules.

A total of 34 environmental test chambers were sold to GM including (6) modular walk in chambers, (12) welded walk-in chambers and (16) temperature/humidity cycling chambers for hot and cold temperature & humidity testing. A significant amount of testing is being applied to the lithium ion battery pack for their new electric Chevrolet Volt which is planned to be launched in November 2010. The walk-in chambers can hold up to four Volt battery packs at time and the smaller test chambers can hold 2 battery packs. Using environmental chambers helps significantly reduce their testing time.

The CSZ EZT-560i controller now includes Ethernet capability to remotely Monitor and Control multiple test chambers anytime and anywhere. Alarm notification feature sends email and/or text phone message in the event of a test chamber alarm. Automated back-up of data files provides easy file management and more.

CSZ now offers environmental rooms for stability testing. These chambers are ideal for testing, storage, shelf life, package and stability testing. Temperatures range from -20°C to 60°C and optional humidity range from 10% to 95% RH. All CSZ stability rooms include CSZ’s exclusive EZT-560i touch screen controller and meet the ICH Q1A guidelines for pharmaceutical stability testing.

MicroClimate® rapid cycling model has just been released. This new model has 50% more heating/cooling performance as other models in the product line with cooling performance of 5°C/min.
